I had the pleasure of accompanying two American ladies on a tailor-made trip to London. The challenge was that we only had a single day within a wider trip to Europe, with their flight arriving in Heathrow at 10am and leaving at 6pm - so we had our work cut-out to make best use of the time.
The ladies had bought a London City Pass, to give them prepaid access to certain attractions, so we collected those passes for them in advance to ensure they didn't waste time going to fetch them. They wanted to see some of the key historic sights of central London, but were garden fanatics and so wanted to sample some of London's botanical delights as well.
We started the day buy plunging straight into London’s’ history, with a drive into central London pointing out many key sights on the way. First stop was Westminster, where the ladies used their passes to queue jump and explore the Abbey for an hour or so, followed by a light lunch. On picking them up, we drove right through the centre of London to Tower Hill, for a brief stop to take photos of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
From there we headed out west for an essential shopping trip to Harrods. Great delight was taken when one of the shop assistants asked how they were getting to their next stop, and they were able to reply, 'Oh, our driver's waiting outside!' Shopping completed, our final stop was the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, for an hour-and-a-half of late afternoon sunshine, before returning to Heathrow in good time for their evening flight."
